IGP Kashmir visits North Kashmir areas

Sopore: Swayam Prakash Pani who was recently appointed as Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone Tuesday visited North Kashmir’s Baramulla and Sopore areas.

He also held darbars with Police personnel and officers in these areas.

During the darbar, the IGP underlined the need for application of due procedure of law and ensure that people are taken on board in policing matters of public importance.

He asked the officers and jawans to dedicate themselves to public service while department will take all possible steps for welfare of policemen working in difficult circumstances.

Appreciating the efforts done by Baramulla and Sopore police to ensure peace and security of people, the IGP exhorted them to put in place systems and mechanisms to consolidate these efforts for long term public good.

Addressing the police officials, Pani said that peace and stability is in everybody’s interest in the society and police must work with total professional commitment to realize the goal of long term peace in the valley.

The IGP further asked the men on ground to treat juveniles with compassion and asked for speeding up steps to establish juvenile units in Police Stations.

He also stressed for juvenile police officer as per the requirement of the law in Police Stations for better handling of these cases.

During meeting of officers in Baramulla and Sopore, Pani stressed upon officers to give top priority to welfare of jawans and welfare of common people.

He asked them to make good use of existing system of criminal justice and take due recourse of available laws to bring criminals to book by professional investigation and prosecution there of. He emphasized the need of quality investigation of criminal cases to build public trust and confidence in policing system.

The IGP also thanked state government and DGP J&K for fulfilling long term demands of policemen with regard to their promotions, housing, enhancements of ex-gratia relief among others.

DIG North Kashmir Range Vidhi Kumar Birdhi, SSP Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussian, SSP Sopore Harmeet Singh and other police officers of Baramulla and Sopore were present on these occasions.
