Congress concerned over plight of SSA Teachers

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Friday slammed the government for withholding three month’s salaries of SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan) teachers, describing the move as ‘very unfortunate’ and anti-teacher.

A party spokesperson while reacting to the delegation of SSA Teachers who called on JKPCC President G.A. Mir seeking his intervention into the matter, said that the delegation apprised the President of the difficulties confronting them due to the indifferent attitude of the government towards them, forcing them to come on roads.

The delegation was led by Peer Misaq, the statement added.

The delegation also apprised that despite their repeated requests to the department concerned, their salaries were not being released, as a result, their families are at the verge of starvation, the spokesperson added.

The Congress spokesperson while expressing serious concern over the plight of SSA teachers slammed the government for adopting an indifferent attitude towards them. The spokesman emphasized the need for release of salaries of these teachers so as to enable them to sustain their families.
