‘Public Damage Property Bill’ referred to select Committee
Srinagar: The government on Saturday referred the Public Damage Property Act bill to select committee amid resentment by the opposition members soon after it was introduced in the legislative assembly.
Soon after the damage property bill was introduced in the House, the opposition members including Ali Mohammad Sagar, Mohammad Yousf Taragami and others categorically opposed the bill and said it contains more strict laws.
The ruckus over the controversial bill continued with opposition demanding its immediate withdrawal. The members said that the bill should be referred to a select committee for discussion.
Responding to the opposition’s demand Minister for Parlimentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri agreed and said the bill will be referred to a selection committee.
