Pulwama: Inhabitants of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district here have accused the successive regimes for failing to come up to their expectations, saying that the authorities have failed to redress their genuine grievances.

The residents of Gulzarpora village in Awantipora Tehsil, which is merely eight kilometers away from Tehsil headquarter is without proper road connection, water, proper electricity and other basic facilities.

“We are suffering immensely due to the lack of water in bore-wells, electricity and proper road in the area,” they said, adding that the erratic power supply from past several months to the village has added to the woes of the people here.

A group of students told ‘Kashmir Vision’ that despite several requests to the concerned officials, the situation continued to remain the same.

The locals said that besides these basic facilities, the villagers are being forced to face hardships due to the lack of basic faculties at Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the village.

“The patients particularly the pregnant ladies and old aged patients of the area are being forced to visit Awantipora hospital even for routine medical checkups as the PHC lacks basic facilities,” Sakeena, a local lady said, adding that the  authorities don’t even bother to provide at least a gynaecologist here.

Residents complained that concerned authorities never visited their area to look into the matter.

The villagers appealed the concerned authorities to intervene and redress their grievances at an earliest.

MLA Pulwama Mohammad Khalil Bhand said, that “the allegations are baseless as the roads including the interior roads have been macadamized.”

He said that that power curtailments are witnessed everywhere and will be resolved soon.

“Many bore-wells were made available in the area to mitigate the water crisis and still if some people have grievances they are requested people to contact him,” he said.
