Process on to fill vacancies of Lecturers: Priya Sethi

JAMMUMinister of State for Education Priya Sethi today informed the Legislative Assembly that the government is in process of filling lecturer vacancies, even as the selection list of 933 lecturers has been recently released.

She was responding to a Calling Attention Notices by Javed Ahmad Rana regarding the vacancies of lecturers in Poonch District.

          She said under promotion quota, 208 PG Masters and Teachers were placed as In-charge Lecturers in different streams and that the Directorates of School Education Department have been advised to post these newly-recruited Lecturers in various districts of the State against the vacant posts, including those in Poonch District.

          The Minister informed the house that there are 84 vacancies against total strength of 309 lecturer posts in Poonch district. She said the majority of vacancies would be filled in the days to come as more selection lists are expected to be released from the JKPSC and with the promotion of eligible PG Masters/Teachers.

          She said the department has referred 2154 teacher vacancies and 1296 posts of non-teaching staff- under direct quota to the SSB for filling on a fast track basis. She said the Department has identified more vacancies which shall also be referred to SSB shortly.
