Midnight gunshots create panic in Sopore town

Sopore: Midnight gunshots triggered panic in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, sources said on Thursday.

Reports reaching  here said that panic gripped in town when sudden gunshots were heard during last night, around 3:30 am from different locations in town.

Meanwhile SSP Sopore Harmeet Singh confirmed and said that there is no need to panic, it was a practice fire. 

However ahead of Afzal Guru’s 5th hanging anniversary heavy security has been deployed at many places of town on Thursday.

Forces have set up checking points at various places of Sopore town including at Bypass, Downtown, Chankhan, Batpora crossing, and in native village of Afzal Guru- Jageer ghat and also night patrolling has been intensified in Sopore town.
