Jammu: Members of the Legislative Council were angered over the “poor” coverage of the House proceedings by the state-owned media.

As the assembly proceedings began for the day, several members of the National Conference (NC), Congress, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) raised the issue of “poor coverage of the House proceedings by the state-owned media”. Ghulam Nabi Monga of Congress, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo of NC, Girdari Lal Raina of BJP and Surinder Choudhary of PDP demanded adequate coverage of the members taking part in the House proceedings.

They later staged a walkout from the House, forcing Haji Anayat Ali, chairman of the legislative council, to adjourn the House for a brief period.

Later, state PWD minister Naeem Akhtar assured the protesting legislators that proper media coverage of the House proceedings would take place.

The chairman told the House that a record of the proceedings has been submitted by the information department and the same was open for any member to see.
