Govt spends 32.40 lakh as grants to NGO’s
Jammu: The J&K government on Wednesday informed the Legislative Assembly (LA) that it has spent an amount of Rs 32.40 lacs on at least 20 non-government organizations (NGOs) in the state.
This was revealed in a written reply to a query raised by independent MLA Er Abdul Rashid during the question Hour of the Legislative Assembly.
Social welfare minister in his written reply informed the House that all these NGOs are registered by the state.
As per the figures, an amount of Rs 16 lacs was provided as grant-in-aid to eight NGOs registered in Jammu.
The minister further informed the House that an amount of Rs 5.75 lacs was provided as grant-in-aid to three registered NGOs in Srinagar district during the year 2061-17. “Rs 4.25 lacs were provided to three NGOs in Baramulla district during the year 2016-17,” he said, adding that Rs 2 lacs were spent on two registered NGOs in Kulgam district.
The minister further informed the House that Rs 2 lacs were provided to two NGOs in Budgam district while as an amount of Rs 1 lac was provide to an NGOs in Anantnag district respectively.
“Rs 1.40 lacs were provided as grant-in-aid to an NGO in Ganderbal district,” the minister informed the House.
