Teenager held after crossing Kishanganga river in Keran

Srinagar: A teenage boy was detained by police along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector on Monday evening.

Official sources said that the youth identified as Najam-u-Saqib (19) son of Uzair Joo was apprehended soon after he reached Keran after crossing over the LoC via Kishan Ganga River dividing two parts of Kashmir.

The youth’s family had migrated to other side of Kashmir in 1990.

SSP Kupwara Shamsheer Hussain said that the youth was detained soon after police got the information about his crossing over to this side.

“He is being presently questioned and we are trying to find out motives which led him to cross the LoC,” SSP said.
