Un-electrified villages to be ‘lightened up’ under various schemes: Govt

Jammu: Minister for Power Development Department, Dr Nirmal Singh Friday informed the House that all un-electrified/partially un-electrified habitations in the state have been identified for complete electrification under DDUGJY and PMDP schemes.

The Minister, while responding to a question said that un-electrified/partially un-electrified habitations of  Noorabad constituency figure in Block Damhal Hanjipora and Qazigund block of Kulgam district stand approved under DDUGJY and  PMDP schemes.

He said that the tenders invited for DDUGJY and PMDP works in district Kulgam, did not evoke any response despite repeated extensions. “Subsequently implementation of these districts were entrusted to PGCIL, accordingly tenders were floated by PGCIL on 31.05.2017. Technical bids were opened on 22nd August 2017 followed by opening of financial bids on 9th October 2017. LoA is expected shortly, “he informed.

The Minister further said that during the year 2015-16 the energy consumed included deemed energy of Ladakh region to tune of 14583.95 MU against which the department has billed for 6591.04 MU and realized revenue of Rs 1671.41 crore as power tariff. While as in the year 2016-17 energy consumed included deemed energy of Ladakh region to tune of 15617.17 MU against which the department has billed for 7229.41 MU and realized revenue of Rs.1716.26 crore as power tariff.

Likewise, during the current financial year ending November 2017 the energy consumed has been to the tune of 11852.39 MU and billed for 4924.16 MU against which realized revenue of Rs 1306.68 crores as power tariff.

Dr Nirmal Singh told that during Chief Minister’s Public Darbar held at district headquarter Kulgam on 25.11.2017 it was decided to explore the possibility for establishment of repair workshop for transformers at D H Pora. “Accordingly the DPR amounting to Rs 47.96 lakhs has been formulated and is under process of clearance by the Techno Economic Committee (TEC) of the department,” he added.

The Minister said that 1.6.3 MVA, 33/11 KV, receiving Station at Nagam D H Pora, approved under T&D is under construction at an estimated cost of Rs.2.83 crore. “Till date an amount of Rs 1.30 crore stands released for the said station, of which an amount of Rs.0.96 crore has been spent. The Receiving Station will be completed in the next financial year subject to the availability of funds,” he informed further.

Dr Nirmal Singh further informed the house that 6.3 MVA 33/11 KV new receiving Station Manzgam has been sanctioned under DDUGJY at an estimated cost of Rs 1.69 crore.

The Minister said that 744 street lights have been installed in Kulgam district, of which 250 are functional. He said damaged street lights installed at D H Pora in Noorabad constituency will be made functional shortly.
