Srinagar: A lawmaker from North Kashmir on Friday urged Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to personally intervene in the case of photojournalist Kamran Yousuf who is detained at Tihar jail, Delhi.

MLA Kupwara and senior PC leader Bashir Ahmad Dar urged the chief minister to intervene into the case of Kamran Yousuf who was arrested by NIA last year.

“No case has been registered against Kamran. He too should have been given an opportunity to live a normal life like the amnesty to stone pelters,” Dar said and demanded his immediate release.

J&K police arrested Kamran on 5 September 2017 from his house in Pulwama. He was subsequently handed over to NIA, which is investigating an alleged case of foreign funds for “subversive activities in Jammu and Kashmir”.
