336 braid-chopping incidents reported in 2017, says Govt

Jammu: As many as 336 incidents of braid- chopping were registered in Jammu and Kashmir in 2017 and three persons were arrested in this connection.

In a written reply to a question from National Conference (NC) MLAs Altaf Wani, Sheikh Jabbar and Abdul Majid Bhat in the Assembly, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said 336 of incidents had taken place in the state last year.

Of these, 201 incidents were registered in Jammu, while 135 took place in the Kashmir region, she added.

Mohammad Aslam Shah and Aadil Shah of Bamroda in Budgam district and Zareefa of Baramulla were placed under arrest in connection with these incidents, the chief minister said. (PTI)
