Murdered goldsmith’s body recovered after 35 days

Sopore: Sopore Police on Tuesday recovered the dead body of a slain goldsmith who was killed and thrown into the river Jehlum over a month ago.

The dead body of a slain goldsmith identified as Tariq Ahmad Malik, son of Ghulam Rasool of Kalaroos Kupwara was today recovered at Tulibal area of Sopore town.

Tariq went missing from his shop on December last year following which a missing report was filed.

The police later claimed that the goldsmith was killed by four persons who had kidnapped Traiq and later killed him.

The accused who also arrested by the police were identified as Sajad Ahmad Lara, Adil Ahmad Lara son’s of Mohammad Afzal Lara of Muslimpeer and Nayeem Ahmad Lara and Ghulam Mohammad Lara of Ashpeer Sopore.

According to police, “the accused forcibly took the victim from his shop on 26 of December 2017 at evening hours and strangulated him before throwing his body into River Jehlum.”

Making all efforts to trace out the body, the Sopore police today recovered the body from River with the help of local fishermen.

The body was later handed over to his family, officials said.
