J&K Govt declares state holiday for tomorrow on Dr Sonam Dawa’s demise

Srinagar: The government Tuesday announced state holiday on December 31 (Wednesday) to mourn the demise of Chairman Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo.

As per the Government order no. GAD(Adm)78/99-1,  dated 30,  January 2018, issued by the Commissioner Secretary to the Government Khurshid Ahmad IAS, as a mark of respect  to Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo, State Government has decided that  state holiday  in the memory of the departed soul  shall be observed  for 31st  January 2018.

The government further stated that state mourning shall be observed for 3 days from 30.01.2018 (Tuesday) to 01.02.2018 (Thursday).

The order reads that the national and state flags shall fly at half-mast during the state mourning on all buildings and places.

Also, there shall be no official entertainment/function during the state mourning, the order reads.
