Jammu: The coalition partner of the state government, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanded the withdrawal of an FIR lodged against the army men involved in the killing of two civilians in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

BJP’s RS Pathania while speaking in the Assembly said that the government should withdraw the FIR against the Army personnel and lodge a fresh FIR without naming anybody.

He asked that why were serious charges leveled against the army? The criminal justice system, he said, doesn’t work under pulls and pressures.

Two youth – Javed Ahmad Bhat and Suhail Javed Lone – were shot dead by army in Ganowpora village of Shopian on Saturday.

The government has ordered a magisterial probe into the incident. Police has filed a murder case against the army.
