Omar questions Mehbooba’s silence
Srinagar: Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah lashed out at Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday for not issuing a statement against the killing of three civilians in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Earlier, Mehbooba Mufti had condemned the suicide car bomb attack in Afghanistan.
“I strongly condemn the suicide car bomb attack in the Afghan capital. We all must unite to vanquish this nexus of terror. My thoughts & prayers go out to the victims & their families,” Mufti wrote on Twitter.
Abdullah replying to her tweet said that it is unfortunate when you can find words for the killings in Kabul but not for the killings in Kashmir.
“The violence in Kabul is tragic. It’s even more unfortunate when you can find words here & have none for the civilians killed in Shopian today @MehboobaMufti. You need to sort out the people managing your account,” Abdullah wrote.
He further said that the first month of 2018 has been a terrible one for J&K.
“….death has cast its ugly shadow far too often already.”
“Deaths along the border with Pakistan in Jammu & deaths in Kashmir. I can only pray that the rest of the year doesn’t go this way,” he hoped.
He said that security forces have also paid a heavy price already this year.
“I don’t think I’m wrong when I say this is the worst start to a year we’ve seen in more than a decade.”
Notably, three youth were killed today when security forces fired on a group of protestors in Shopian district.
