Srinagar: Condemning the ‘brutal’ killing of two youths Javid Ahmad Bhat and Suhail Javed Lone in Shopian by government forces, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, has called for a complete and state-wide shutdown today.

Expressing grief over the killings, the leaders said, “Army, CRPF and police are held bent upon liquidating our youth in a well knit plan irrespective of them being armed or unarmed. Few days back, one more youth Shakir Ahmad Mir was also killed and two teenage girls were shot in their head who are now battling for their life at SIKIMS Soura.”

The JRL while expressing sympathy with the bereaved families said “this daily bloodbath in every nook and corner of our land is only because of the collaborators of these killers”.

“These paid agents of the oppressor will shortly shout throat aching slogans in favour of victims and shed crocodile tears just to befool the people but in reality they are the persons whose hands are drenched in this innocent blood,” the leaders said.

“Had they been just humans, they would have long ago preferred to side with the oppressed and played an active and practical role to stop this bloodshed but their personal lust and greed have made them so cowardice that they neither have the courage to do so nor have the authority to question these uniformed killers,” the statement added.
