Civilian killed after forces open fire in Shopian

Srinagar: A youth was killed and two others injured after government forces opened fire on protesters in Ganowpora village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.

According to the reports, the youth was identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat. He was brought to the district hospital Pulwama with critical head injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries.

SSP Shopian, S A Dinkar said that there was stone pelting on army convoy after which soldiers fired few shots in air. “There was stone pelting on army convoy and army personnel fired some shots in air,” SSP said.
