Kashmir curfewed 186 times in last two years: Govt

Srinagar: Government on Tuesday said that the Kashmir Valley has remained under curfew on 186 times in last two year.
 
In a written reply to a question by legislator Chief Minister  Mehbooba Mufti in legislative assembly said that the government imposed curfew and restrictions on 186 times in Valley.
 
She informed the House that the police districts in the state which remained curfewed include Anantnag where the curfew and restrictions were imposed 51 times.
 
“Moreover, the curfew /restrictions imposed in other districts in the said period include Kulgam (07), Shopian (14), Pulwama (07), Srinagar (25), Ganderbal (03), Sopore (22), Baramulla (15), Bandipora (09), Awantipora (10) and Kishtwar (05)”, Mehbooba said, adding that restrictions were imposed as necessitated by the situation.
 
She according to GNS further said that cordon-and-search operations were carried out on specific information. (GNS)
