Grenade lobbed at CRPF personnel, passerby injured

Srinagar: A civilian was injured in a grenade attack by militants who targeted the security forces in Pampore area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir on Monday, police said.

The ultras lobbed a grenade towards the CRPF personnel at Pampore town, 14 km from here, a police official said.

He said the grenade exploded on the roadside, resulting in injuries to one civilian.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an operation to track down the militants, the official said adding no arrests have been made so far.

In another incident, suspected gun men attacked a police party at Lassipora in the same district.

Sources said that gunmen fired several rounds towards the police party near Lassipora Industrial estate. However, the fire was returned forcing the gunmen to flee. Police later launched a search operation in the area.

In another grenade attack in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, suspected militants hurled a grenade towards police station Baramulla on Monday evening. The grenade exploded with a bang causing injuries to a police constable, a police sources said.
