Jammu: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has expressed concerns over the recent killing of three civilians in the ongoing exchange of fire along the border.

“Distraught to hear of three more civilians caught in the crossfire on the border,” She wrote on Twitter.

She further said that the people of the state are the worst victims of the conflict between two neighbors.

“The people of J&K are the worst victims of the acrimony between the two neighbouring countries. I pray that the hostility on the borders ends soon”.

Three civilians and a trooper were killed when the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged fire along the line of control and International border in Jammu division.

Meanwhile, the administration has closed around 100 schools around the area.

The schools, up to five kilometers range from the IB and LoC, have been shut for three days.

“The schools along the IB and LoC in five border district of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch, were closed because of the firing and shelling by the Pakistan troops,” a senior divisional level officer said.

For the past three days, nine persons, including two BSF jawans and two Armymen were killed when the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged fire along the border.
