Clashes erupt in City areas
Srinagar: Following the culmination of Friday congregational prayers, clashes erupted in several areas of old city here.
Witnesses said that the clashes erupted in various areas of Srinagar city including Rajouri Kadal, Kawdara, Nawa Kadal and Braripora.
The forces used tear gas canisters to disperse the youth who were pleting stones on them.
Witnesses said that as soon as the Friday congregational prayers ended in the local Masjid’s, the protesters mostly youth took to streets and peleted stones on the forces, who retaliated by firing tear gas canisters to disperse them.
Meanwhile, on the call of Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), a peaceful protest was held outside Jamia Masjid Srinagar during which JRL leaders and activists condemned and protested against the ‘state terrorism’ and tactics adopted by NIA and ED.
The protestors denied the allegations against Hurriyat leadership filed in NIA charge sheet.
