Jammu: Minister for Revenue, Abdul Rehman Veeri informed the House that desirability to create new revenue villages are assessed and taken care on certain merits.

Replying to a question of Mr. Javid Ahmad Rana, the Minister informed the House that the fresh revision of revenue records has not been undertaken in District Poonch so far and as and when the said process is initiated in the district, the desirability to create new revenue villages will be assessed and taken care of.

The Minister said that the creation of a revenue estate by way of bifurcation/trifurcation of the existing revenue villages is done after the fresh revision of the record of rights.

He said that the criteria for creation of a new estate include geographical/topographical conditions of the area, clear hadbast (boundary) like river, nallah, mountainous ridges, etc, delineating the habitations in a village, size of the village being too big resulting in wearing and tearing of revenue records due to frequent use and inaccessibility between various habitations, etc.
