Govt spent Rs 1670.62 cr under MNREGA, says Minister

Jammu: The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Khan informed the House that government has expended Rs 1670.62 crore  in last two years for clearing liabilities on account of wages and material payments under MGNREG and other schemes. He said that 128468 works have been completed in two years, while work on 997372 is in progress.

The Minister was replying to a question by Rajeev Sharma about the status of the Rural Development Department schemes taken up under MGNREGA, PMAY, 13th FC, CD&Pyt, Swaach Bharat Mission (Gramin) and IWMP in Akhnoor Constituency.

The Minister informed  the House that PMAY (G) beneficiaries are selected from the auto generated list drawn out of socio Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 and in adherence to prescribed criteria of automatic inclusion/exclusion/prioritization/verification, etc. He said for the inclusion of the poor, deserving and genuine cases which do not reflect  in the SECC 2011 is done on the recommendation of district  Appellate Committees comprising Additional District Development Commissioner – Chairman, Assistant Commissioner Development – Member and one non-official member to be nominated by District Development Commissioner.  

Abdul Majid Bhat Larmi, Abdul Majid Paddar and Aijaz Ahmad Khan raised supplementary questions to the main question.
