Outdoor Stadium worth Rs 9.81 cr coming up in Udhampur, says Minister

Jammu: Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Mr. Imran Raza Ansari informed the House that Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has conveyed the approval for construction of Outdoor Stadium at Udhampur involving a cost of Rs.9.81 crore under Special Package for Development of Sports Infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir on the recommendations of J&K State Sports Council.

Replying to a question by Pawan Kumar Gupta, the Minister elaborated that work on some components of the project like Walkers path, R/wall and B/walls around the Stadium, fixing of lights, construction of mini Pavilion and Basketball Court has already been initiated. The tendering process for other components has also started, said the Minister.

To promote sports activities in J&K, the Union Government has approved 22 Multi-purpose Indoor Sports Halls for the uncovered areas. This also includes setting up of one Multi-purpose Indoor Stadium at Ramnagar in Udhampur district under PMDP of which the work is in progress, said the Minister.

 “The department will also develop two school playfields at Middle School Badali Rakh and GHSS Lander at an estimated cost of Rs.3.50 lakhs in Udhampur district,” the Minister added.
