Jammu: Independent MLA from Langate Er Rasheed on Tuesday said that he will boycott the rest of the budget session of the legislative assembly to protest his “thrashing” by marshals.

Earlier, deputy speaker asked the Marshals to “take him out from the House” after several legislators entered into a confrontation with Rasheed over his remarks on “back-door appointments” in various corporations.

Talking to reporters outside the assembly, Rasheed said that he was pushed and thrashed by marshals and ‘non-locals’ after the deputy speaker signaled them to take him out of the house.

“They (marshals) used ruthless means and manhandled me,” he said, while showing the injury marks on his hand.

He said that he will boycott the house unless the matter is thoroughly probed. “My self respect has been hurt, so has the self-respect of the people of my constituency been put to stake,” said Rasheed.

In a statement, Rasheed said that house is losing its credibility fast and has become a house of goons where even elected representatives are handled like criminals.

“The assembly has become a graveyard of aspirations and rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
