Bijbehara shuts to remember slain militants on their anniversary

Anantnag: A complete shutdown was observed in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday to mark the first death anniversary of the three slain militants.

Last year on this day, three Hizb militants Adil Ahmad Reshi of Bijbehara, Abid Ahmad Sheikh of Satkipora and Masood Ahmad Shah of Bewoora were killed in an encounter with government forces in Awoora village of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Witnesses said that all business establishments and shops remained closed in the area.

They added the traffic was plying normally on the national highway however, thin movement of vehicles was observed on the inner roads and highways.

Amid shutdown, special prayers, local sources said, were being offered for the three slain militants at their villages while many others visited the grave yards where the slain militants are buried.
