21 days on, body of murdered goldsmith remains untraced
SOPORE: The relatives and friends of the missing goldsmith from Sopore staged protests on Tuesday demanding that his body be traced so that the family can perform his last rites.
Pertinently, 21 days have passed but the body of the murdered goldsmith from Sopore has not been traced while the locals of Sopore including family and relatives of the victim staged a protest demonstration at Iqbal market Sopore, demanding the victim’s body and also stern action against the accused.
Protesters including women blocked the road outside SSP office Sopore at Iqbal market for several hours demanding that the body of the slain goldsmith be traced and an exemplary punishment be announced against the accused.
They also shouted slogans against the failure of Sopore administration and police for not being able to trace the body from river Jhelum, where the police believes it has been dumped by the murderers.
Pertinently, according to police Tariq Ahmad Malik 32, of Kalaroos Kupwara was forcibly taken from his shop on 26 of December during the evening hours and was strangulated to death before being thrown into River Jehlum. The accused later looted cash and jewellery from the victim’s shop after committing the murder.
The accused have been arrested, but his body is yet to be handed-over to his family.
Sopore administration has been making all efforts to trace out the body from river but has so far been unable to recover the body.
