150 Kg’s of polythene seized

Sopore: Police on Monday launched anti-polythene drive and seized over 150 kilograms of polythene in different areas of Sopore.

According to the officials, the drive was launched in the jurisdiction of all Police Stations of the district headed by their respective DySPs and SHOs.

“During the drive over 150 Kilograms of polythene was seized in Main Chowk Sopore, Chankhan, Potkha, Warpora, Panzalla, Watergam, Dangiwacha and other areas of the Police district,” police said.

The drive was aimed to curtail black marketing and to make traders aware about ill effects of polythene.

Police officials said that it was observed that maximum number of traders were found using tissue bags instead of polythene bags.

The traders union and other respectables hailed the efforts made by Sopore Police.
