Jammu: A Border security forces personnel was killed and a teenager was injured in two separate incidents in Jammu’s Rajouri and Poonch districts.
Defence sources said that a soldier was injured when armies of India and Pakistan exchanged fire along LoC in Rajouri’s Sundarbani sector today.
Sources said that the trooper identified as Lance Naik Yogesh Muralidhar Bhadane later succumbed to his injuries.
A defense official alleged that the Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked firing along the LoC in Sundarbani sector resulting in the death of a soldier.
The fire was effectively retaliated, he added.
Meanwhile, a 12-year-old boy was critically injured after an unexploded bomb went off near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.
Mohammad Iqbal (12), a resident of Shahpur, found the bomb in an open field near Qasba village around 11:45 am and started fiddling with it, causing the explosion, a police official said.
“The boy suffered critical injuries with both his hands blown up. He was rushed to a hospital and his condition is stated to be ‘critical’,” an official said.
The bomb, apparently a mortar fired by Pakistan during cross-border shelling in the recent past, had remained unexploded and undetected, the official said. (PTI)
