Kulgam shuts for second consecutive day to mourn militant, civilian killing

Kulgam: A complete shutdown was observed on Thursday in Kulgam district southern Kashmir to mourn the killing of a militant and a civilian on Tuesday.

All shops, business establishments, educational institutes were shut to mourn the killings.

Pertinently a militant and a civilian were killed during an encounter with government forces in Kokernag area in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Tuesday.

Farhan Ahmad Wani of Redwani Khudwani area of district Kulgam, a 15 year old boy was killed in the encounter and in the ensuing clashes a civilian, Khalid Ahmed Dar aged 22 was killed after being hit by bullets during the clashes that followed the gunfight.

Meanwhile mobile internet services continue to remain suspended in Kulgam district for third day however they were restored in Anantnag districts after 30 hours of suspension.
