Protest against power outage, water shortage in Watergam
Rafiabad: The residents from Watergam and its adjoining villages on Wednesday held a protest demonstration and also blocked Baramulla-Handwara National Highway road to mark their protest against PDD and PHE department.
Raising slogans against the PDD and PHE, the protesters alleged that despite repeated requests and reminders, the concerned departments have failed to ensure water and power supply in the area.
They said that we are facing immense hardships without electricity and drinking water in the area.
A group of protestors said that this is not for the first time we hit the roads against the Department (PHE) and the Power Development Department (PDD) for their failure to ensure supply of water and power to the area. They said that if our demands are not fulfilled soon, we will go for bigger protests.
Meanwhile police have reached on spot and are trying to restore the traffic which has been halted soon after protestors hit the roads.
However protest in the area was going on when this report was filed.
