BSF vehicle crushes civilian to death

Anantnag: A civilian was killed on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near Vessu village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district after being hit by a BSF vehicle, witnesses said.

They said that following the incident the National Highway from Srinagar to Jammu was blocked by locals near Vessu area in Qazigund on Tuesday afternoon who were demanding action against the driver.

The civilian was later identified as Ghulam Hassan Itoo son of Muhammad Khalil Itoo, age 42 resident of Muniwar area in Khanabal of Anantnag District in South Kashmir.

Sources said Ghulam Hasaan died on the spot after being hit by the vehicle.

As soon as the news spread in his native, the locals came out protesting against the troopers raising pro freedom and anti-India slogans.

Local sources said that the youth pelted stones on the troopers deployed in the area, however they were later pacified by ADC Anantnag and police after they assured them that action will be taken against the driver.
