Aiwan-e-Sahafat handed over to office bearers
Srinagar: Joint Director Information Kashmir, Zahoor Ahmad Mir Monday formally handed over the possession of the 9-HB Building at Polo View Srinagar to Kashmir Press Club.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, SSP Srinagar, Imtiaz Ismail Parray, President Press Club Kashmir, Mohammad Saleem Pandit, representatives of various journalist associations of Kashmir, besides senior photographers and journalists were present on the occasion.
The Press Club designated as “Aiwane-e-Sahafat Kashmir” or “Kashmir Press Club” is first such place for journalists in Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, senior journalist Saleem Pandit said, “It is the historic day for journalist fraternity in Kashmir. It is an initiative through which all the journalists can come under one roof and express their ideas and suggestions for the betterment of journalism and journalists in the Valley.”
On the occasion, DC Srinagar congratulated the journalist fraternity and assured that the administration will help the club in all possible manners for its smooth functioning. He gave on the spot directions to the concerned officials to undertake the cleanliness of the building and its surroundings.
On the demand of the journalist fraternity, DC assured that the renovation of the building would soon be undertaken.
