2 militants killed in ongoing Kokernag gunfight

Srinagar: Two militants were killed in an encounter with government forces in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir today, the Army said.

“Two militants have been killed so far in an anti- insurgency operation in Larnoo area of Kokernag in Anantnag district,” an Army official said.

He said the operation was in progress when last reports came in.

The slain militants have been identified as Mohd Furhan Wani son of Ghulam Mohd Wani resident of  Wangund, Khudwani and Mohd Farnham Wani son of Ghulam Mohidin Wani resident of Wangund Kaimuh.

Meanwhile mobile internet services have been suspended in Anantnag and Kulgam districts following the encounter.

“We have received orders to shut internet including 2G, 3G and 4G as a preventive measure,” a telecom Official told Kashmir Vision.

Pertinently, internet services continue to remain suspended in Budgam and most parts of Pulwama district following a gunfight in Chadoora Budgam yesterday.
