Hizb Militant, two persons held in Sopore outskirts
Srinagar: Government forces on Sunday arrested a militant and two other persons from outskirts of Sopore town in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Official sources told GNS that a joint team of MARCOS, army’s 163 TA and SOG following a specific information about the movement of militants in Watlab launched a search operation today late in the afternoon.
During the operation three persons have been apprehended including a militant, they said, adding that huge quantity of arms and ammunition has been recovered from their possession.
“The arms and ammunition which has been recovered from their possession include three AK-47 rifles with 3 Magzines, 3 Hand Grenades, one pistol and three pouches”
The trio has been later handed over to SOG Sopore for further questioning, they said.
A police officer while confirming the incident said that they have registered a case and further investigations taken up.
He identified the militant as Mushtaq Ahmad Chopan, a resident of Tral, Pulwama in south Kashmir.
