J&K witnesses warmer days and cold nights

Srinagar: Weathermen forecast light rain or snow at few places for next 24 hours in Jammu and kashmir, which continue to witness warmer days and cold nights for the last two weeks.

“Generally cloudy sky with possibility of light rain/snow at few places for next 24 hours in the state”, Met office said.

Srinagar, summer capital of the state, recorded a low of  minus 3.9 degrees Celsius which was 1.8 degrees above normal. The city had recorded a maximum temperature of 10.7 degrees Celsius which was 3.8 degrees above normal.

Jammu, winter capital, recorded a minimum temperature of  2.7 degrees Celsius which was 4.6 degrees below normal while the day’s maximum temperature was 15.1 degrees Celsius which was also 2.9 degrees below normal.

Ladakh region continues to reel under intense cold  with Leh recording a low of minus 14.2 degrees Celsius, while the city had recorded a maximum temperature of 0.2 degrees celsius.

Kargil recorded a low of minus 8.5 degrees Celsius.

The twin tourist resorts of Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 4.4  and minus 6.9 degrees Celsius. Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway recorded a minimum temperature of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius. Kokernag recorded a low of minus 2.5 while Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 3.6 degrees Celsius.

In Jammu region, Banihal and Batote recorded minus 1.6 and minus 2.1 while Katra recorded 5.0 and Doda 0.3 degrees Celsius. (Kashmir Wire)
