ISIS, Taliban have no presence in Kashmir: Govt
Srinagar: The union government today denied that ISIS or Taliban like militant outfits are operating in the valley.
In reply to a question in Raj Sabha, Minister of Home state, Hansraj Ahir said that nothing has been established on the ground that the militant outfit is operating in any part of Kashmir valley.
“However, Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind (AGUH) formed and led by Zakir Musa (former Hizbul-Mujahideen militant) has posted adverse material on social media,” Ahir said in reply to a question in Parliament.
He further said that there are reports that at present, Zakir Musa has the support of less than 10 militants.
Notably, last week, ‘Al Qaida’-Indian subcontinent reiterated its call for ‘Jihad’ in Kashmir. The outfit also praised Zakir Musa for raising the slogan of Shariah in Kashmir.
The outfit stated that ‘solution to resolve the issue of Kashmir, according to Shari’ah, is jihad in the way of Allah’.
In a video interview posted on Al-Hur media channel run by the outfit, the spokesperson of Al Qaida in Khurasan (Afghanistan) Ustad Osama Mehmood said those ‘who raised the great slogan of “Shari’ah or martyrdom”, (referring to Zakir Musa and his group in the valley) by Allah, you remain in our hearts and in our duas (prayers).’
However, the union government denied that any ‘Tanzeem like Taliban is presently operating in any part of the Kashmir valley’.
Earlier in summer last year, Inspector General of Police, Muneer Khan told media that Musa has five to six people around him and may have 20 sympathizers in other militant organizations.
