Yasin Malik arrested, sent to judicial remand

Srinagar: Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik was today arrested by police from JKLF office and immediately shifted to central jail Srinagar on a judicial remand, a spokesman said on Wednesday.

The JKLF spokesman as per the statement issued here said that police this afternoon cordoned the JKLF office at Abi Guzar and arrested JKLF chairman.

He said that JKLF district president Budgam, Gulzar Ahmad Pahalwan has also been arrested by Budgam police in a nocturnal raid on his house.

Before his arrest, Malik while speaking to media person said that “Jammu and Kashmir has been turned into a police garrison and a big jail where no one is allowed to move or speak freely.”

He said that arresting people, placing them under house arrest, clamping curfews and restrictions has become the order of day.
