Three young boys confirm rendezvous with normal life, tweets DGP
Srinagar: Three young boys, who had joined militant ranks recently, have surrendered before security forces in Kashmir, a senior police official said today.
“Another three young boys in valley came back home in response to the call of their families. God bless them,” Director General of Police S P Vaid tweeted.
The police have made it a point not to reveal the identity of the youth, who surrender, in order to ensure their safety.
However, sources said two of the three boys who gave themselves up were teenagers hailing from a village in Pulwama district.
The boys Suhail Ahmad Dar son of Bashir Ahmad Dar, a class10th student and Arif Ahmad Dar son of Bashir Ahmad Dar, a 9th class student had gone missing after offering Friday prayers at the local mosque in Kangan. The duo were then seen after they uploaded their pictures on Facebook, carrying a hand grenade.
However, the boys reportedly returned home and joined their families, who presented them before the Army at the 55 RR camp.
According to the reports, the boys have handed over the hand grenade to the Army.
Security forces in Kashmir have maintained that they will provide all possible help to those local militants who want to renounce the path of violence and join the mainstream.
With this the number of local youth to have renounced militancy since last year has reached 10. Seven boys, including the footballer-turned-militant Majid Khan have returned after their parents made a fervent appeal to shun violence.
