JKCDF welcomes regularization of casual workers

Srinagar: Days after the government announced regularization of over 60000 casual and daily wagers in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir Casual/Daily wagers Forum (JKCDF) on Friday welcomed the move, terming it as ‘sigh of relief’ for thousands of families.

The forum headed by Sajad Ahmad Parray while addressing a presser here at a local hotel said that the government had made an agreement with them while announcing the regularization scheme. 

“In case, the government failed to fulfill all the assurances, we will hit the streets against to press for our demands,” Parray said.

He said that the thousands of families of causal labours, daily wagers and others are thankful to the government especially Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Finance Minister Haseeb A Drabu for initiating the process of regularization.

“It is just a beginning of the regularization. The process has just begun,” he said.

“We met the government prior to the announcement and they assured us that all our demands will be fulfilled soon. They made agreement with us and said that all the demands will be fulfilled,” he said, adding that they also raised the query regarding the employees who lost their lives while working.

“We will also take some favorable step for them,” the government has assured us, he claimed.

He said that the government also assured them that those left out this time will also be added in their list soon. “The government also assured us that we will also be given the benefits at par with class IV employees,” Parray said. 

Parray along with other members including Tariq Ahmad thanked the government for initiating the process of regularization.

However, they threatened to hit streets against in case government failed to fulfill all the assurances.
