Srinagar: In a bizarre move, the Jammu and Kashmir government today issued a diktat asking the government employees not use personal social media accounts for any political activity.

According to an order issued by the General Administration Department, the government has exercised the powers by provision to section 124 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, and amended the Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees Conduct Rules, 1971.

The order, issued by the General Administration Department, said;  “No govt employee shall engage in any criminal, dishonest, immoral or notorously disgraceful conduct on social media which may be prejudicial to the Government. They shall not post inflammatory, extraneous messages in an online community with the intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal, on topic discussion.”
