Congress starts door to door contact programme

Anantnag: With an aim to strengthen the party, the Congress party has started door to door contact programmes in South Kashmir’s Ananatnag district.

The door to door contact programmes started at Dooru assembly constituency of Anantnag district. 

Block President Verinag Peer Shahabad said that the programme was aimed to strengthen the party on gross root level.

Several meetings were today held in the upper belt of Dooru constituency in Kapran area.

“The programme was initiated to strengthen the party in view of the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

He said that on the first day of the programme, dozens of workers from different political parties joined the Congress.

Notably, in 2014 elections, Congress President Ghulam Ahmad Mir faced defeat by a margin of 160 votes.
