Kupwara: Media professionals were today barred from covering the activities of Government of India’s special representative Dineshwar Sharma maiden visit to the frontier district of Kupwara.

A host of delegations from across the district are lined up at Dak Bungalow Kupwara to interact with Sharma, who is on the third visit to Jammu and Kashmir since he was appointed to meet the people of the state.

Amid a tight security cover, Sharma arrived here around 1:45 PM.

“We are not allowed to go inside the dak bungalow. His first visit to this border district is so significant but we are not being allowed to cover the proceedings,” said Shameem Ahmad, local Zee media reporter.

Local reporters representing various newspapers and news agencies were denied permission to cover the event.

Sharma is scheduled to meet at least 40 delegations from across the district including border town Machil and Karnah. (Kashmir Wire)
