Srinagar: Restrictions have been imposed in parts of Srinagar city to prevent pro-freedom leaders-called protests post the Friday prayers against civilian killings at the hands of government forces.

Restrictions under section 144 of the CrPC have been imposed in Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta, M.R.Gunj and Safa Kadal in the old city areas, a senior police official said.

“Partial restrictions will also remain in force in Maisuma and Kralkhud,” he added.

Pertinently, Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, has been placed under house arrest at his Nigeen residence on the city outskirts, while as Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani is undergoing house detention since 2010.

Train services between Baramulla town of the Kashmir Valley and Bannihal town in the Jammu region have been suspected on the day as “a precautionary measure”.
