Forces committing planned genocide, says Hurriyat (M)

Srinagar: Hurriyat conference (M) Wednesday paid tributes to two armed youth killed in an encounter with forces at Batmuran village of Shopian district of South Kashmir on Tuesday.

The spokesman as per the statement issued here said that the young boys of Kashmir are spilling their blood to pull out Kashmiri nation from the shackles of worst form of oppression and that the leadership is committed to take the mission of martyr’s to its logical goal.

Hurriyat (M) spokesman strongly denounced the use of indiscriminate force that include live bullets and deadly pellets on the peaceful protestors at Shopian, which resulted in the on spot death of a lactating mother and injuries to more than 50 people majority of them with serious bullet and pellet wounds.

He said that “the mayhem witnessed at Batmuran was yet another example of an open aggression by government forces.”

Expressing deep concern over the killing of three innocent civilians including three women in just a week—Misra Bano of Handwara, Asif Iqbal, a sumo driver of Kupwara, and now Ruby alias Beauty Jan of Shopian, the spokesman said that “under the complete patronage of the government, forces deployed in Kashmir seems to be on a mission to commit the planned genocide of Kashmiris without any gender difference.”

He said the freedom sentiment runs deep in every heart of Kashmiri, and every bid to crush this on the basis of military might, like in past, is destined to fail.

In the wake of ongoing killing spree of innocent civilians and unabated human rights violations in every nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir, the spokesman urged UN Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, Human, and International Red Cross to take serious note of this situation in Kashmir and use their influence to make Government of India change current policy of ruthlessness and repression on the people of Kashmir and respect their Human Rights.

Meanwhile, the spokesman strongly condemned the house detention of amalgam chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at Mirwaiz Manzil Nigeen and termed the continuous house arrest of aged resistance leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani serious violation of human rights.

The spokesman also castigated the authorities for detaining the ailing APHC leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and lodging him in Police station Sadar in Islamabad.

The spokesman also criticized the government for imposing strict curbs in downtown Srinagar and conducting nocturnal raids in Tral area of Pulwama district.

Terming it as the ‘frustration’ on part of the authorities and the forces, he said the government must realize that these repressive measures can’t break the resolve and will of people of Kashmir who have giving huge sacrifices for the cause and the movement.
