Dy CM reviews power scenario in Leh

Leh: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh reviewed the power scenario and pace of progress on Power and Urban Development projects here at a high level meeting.   

The meeting was attended by CEC, LAHDC Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo, DC Leh Avny Lavasa, Executive Councillors, ADC Moses Kunzang, Chief Engineer NHPC Alchi, SEs and Exens of PWD  PDD,  PDC and CEO LDA.

Dy CM took a thorough review of power scenario and progress made under different centrally sponsored schemes and other issues.

The CEC pointed out the major problems with regard to transmission lines and distribution of power supply in the district.

He urged Dy CM for serious intervention in getting the projects completed on time. He also informed about staff shortage in power department and sought early solution.

The PDD functionaries called for release of funds for replacement of DWPs and poles for new households. 

Dy CM stressed upon PDD and concerned departments to take project work and transmission lines simultaneously from the day of commissioning with fixed timeline and frequent reviews by the DC.

He instructed SE PDD to submit detailed report on total projects requirements under PMA and follow up with power grid for timely completion of transmission line from Khaltsi to Kargil.

He pointed out inability of local contractors to take up big projects and asked the PDD to ensure practicality in communicating with the hired consultants in getting the projects completed on time. He gave full assurance to take up all the issues of Ladakh with PM Narender Modi and concerned ministry at centre and state level soon.

Other issues raised during the meeting included AMRUT mission projects for developing  green space, provision for multitier parking, construction of slaughter house, timely release of salary for staff of LDA by district Urban Local Body, construction of tribal hostel in Mutthi, Jammu, requirement of funds for Trans Himalaya in Nubra and Convention Centre in Leh. Dr. Singh informed that he would convene a meeting of LAHDC, Leh in Jammu shortly, to sort out all projected demands.
