Poonch: An altercation broke out between cops and National Conference (NC) MLA Javed Rana when the latter ‘insulted’ the policemen using derogatory words against them while speaking at a public rally in Poonch.

Reports said that Rana was speaking in presence of Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali.

In a video which is doing rounds on social media, Rana is being heard said, “I’ll tell you one secret, whenever I travel with them (security personnel), I keep a gun with me and tell them, P***S  if you run away, I will fire at you from behind.”

He reportedly used foul language while addressing the policemen to which the officer in the uniform objected. Reports said that Superintendent of Police SP Rajeev took note of the ‘cuss’ word and interfered while Rana was speaking.

According to the reports, the police official stood up from his seat and defended his department and junior police officers. The officer also requested NC MLA to take back his words and tender an apology.

However, the retaliation from the officer took NC MLA by surprise and triggered sharp reactions from the local residents in the area too. Sensing mood of the locals, senior state government officials and PDP minister swiftly stepped in to pacify the crowd and prevented a verbal brawl between the two public servants.
