Minister directs officers to ensure regular disposal of Industrial waste

Jammu: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga, Monday stressed on effective management of hazardous waste material in industrial estates, the Minister directed the concerned to ensure that the industrial units strictly adhere to the set norms and set  up effluent treatment plants for proper treatment, storage and disposal of hazardous waste to protect environment. He sought cooperation of all stakeholders in this regard with proper information dissemination and awareness so that all contribute towards environmental protection.

Minister was chairing the 136th meeting of Board of Directors of J&K State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (SIDCO), here today.

Ganga, who is Chairman of the Board, took a detailed review of the progress on various industrial infrastructure projects being executed by the Corporation.

The meeting also reviewed the physical progress of projects being executed by the Corporation including Trade Facilitation Centre at Salamabad Uri, Phase II, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), I.T Tower building at Rangreth Phase-II, Construction of Conference Hall at IGC, Lassipora, Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) and other works.

The meeting also discussed the proposal envisaging implementation of health insurance cover for the employees, sanction of honorarium in favour of Directors of the Board, revised budget proposals for financial year 2017-18 and proposed budget for financial year 2018-19 etc.
