Several injured in clashes near encounter site in Shopian

Shopian: Scores of protesters were injured during clashes that erupted between government forces and protestors near the encounter site in Butmuran village of  Shopian district in south Kashmir.

Local sources said that protesters assembled near encounter site on Tuesday morning and pelted stones on forces to disrupt the anti-militancy operation in Wanpora, Batamarun where encounter starred on Monday evening.

Two civilians Aijaz Ahmed Dar son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar resident of Batapora Shopian and Jahangir Ahmad Wani son of Ali Muhammad Wani of Wathoo Shopian sustain bullet injuries the clashes. 

Sources said that Dar was hit by a bullet in his right leg and has been referred to SMHS while as Wani has bullet injury in his right thigh and has been referred to Bone and Joint hospital Srinagar.
 
Moreover over one dozen has received pellet injuries and most of them have been referred to Srinagar. 

They added that forces in retaliation used tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse the protesters.

Yesterday evening intense clashes were also reported in the area.

Pertinently, Police sources said that two militants including a local Jaish militant have been killed in the gunfight so far.
